Be there! Corfu Animation Festival has the honour of welcoming for its 5th edition the swedish Hanna Heilborn, an award-winning film director with extensive work on animation documentary. Hanna Heilborn, co-owner of the Swedish production company Story AB, with a worldwide success in producing documentaries, works as a film director, writer and dramaturgist, mainly with documentaries.
Having won many awards and having participated in some of the most well known festivals around the world, she is the creator of the remarkable animation films "Hidden/Gömd" (2002), "Slaves/Slavar" (2008) and "Sharaf" (2012) in co-direction with David Aronowitsch. The film "Slaves" gave her work the recognition it deserved by winning the The Annecy Cristal for Best Short Animation in the renowned festival of Annecy in France in 2009.
The rest of her filmography complete: "Big Mike" (2004), "Girls Talk/Tjejsnack" (2007), "The Wave" (2014), "Ruth" (2015).
The tribute to Hanna Heilborn will include a retrospection of her work, which bears on combustive issues concerning human rights, immigrants and refugees. A tribute included in the general topic of this year's festival "The many faces of Europe". During the festival there will be a large number of movies shown concerning human rights, borders, immigration and recourse reflecting on the current situation.
The acclaimed film director will deliver a lecture on the topic "Visual Politics: Hanna Heilborn talks about David Aronowitsch's and her strive to find innovative artistic film forms, in order for the audience to experience our society in a new way, intellectually, emotionally and politically."
Hanna Heilborn will also be a member of the jury of the 5th edition of the Be there! Festival, which will consist of both Greek and international animation experts.
The visit is being actualised with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Athens, Greece.
